Fort Stevens

This audio visual is a collection of images shot at Fort Stevens in Hammond, OR. Fort Stevens is a deactivated U.S. military defense installation at the mouth of the Columbia River. This was a very interesting photographic project. There is a difference in what we see and what we see in our minds. Photography allows us to try to bridge the gap between what we see, what we see in our mind’s eye, and what we can create in a photograph. The unique architecture gave a mysterious quality that we tried to capture in the images. These photographs were processed in a graphic black and white to give the images an historic, obscure and mysterious quality.
